What’s new in the new year?

Hey, guys! I realize it’s been a little while since I posted, but Christmas has been busy. So busy! Here’s what went down over the last month and a half.

While I edited the organ concert video to send it to my mom, the YouTube version has still been waiting because I haven’t had the interest to work on it. Sorry about that.

The Messiah concert in Petrolia was fantastic. Everyone who came to watch enjoyed it very much (particularly our choir director! :3 ) and the choir itself enjoyed it very much. We sounded great! And it was a lot of fun, especially because of Mark Payne’s ridiculously snappy tempos.

December was mostly spent in preparing things to play for Christmas. Lots of Bédard. <3 Immediately after Christmas, I played for a wedding; 10/10, would play that set list again.

Les Choristes (which I’m not part of, but I enjoy watching them perform) is doing a concert on Thursday evening and again on Friday afternoon… Thursday evening is at 8:00pm in VKH, and Friday is at 12:30pm. Guest artist Essi Wuorela came all the way from Finland to do this concert with them! I won’t be able to go Thursday, but you can bet I’ll be at the Friday one.

The 6 Pianists have begun to reconvene; we’re rushing to finish our arrangements so we can start practicing them!

The RCCO Convention is still happening, and I’ve begun to get a couple emails from interested parties about the Academy. (If you’re a student, don’t hesitate to sign up! It’ll be a good experience, and it’s quite reasonable.)

Finally, I’m preparing a choral workshop for my church choirs at the end of the month. 10:00am January 31st at my church in St. Thomas. I’m not a qualified choir director, but I do have extensive experience in singing in choirs directed by great people (Hello, Nick! Hello, Jen!) so I’m going to attempt to pass on some of my knowledge in a coherent manner. (Wish me luck!)
