About

Jennifer Mitchell, organist and pianist

My name is Jennifer Mitchell and I am an organist/pianist living in Victoria, BC, Canada, with an M. Mus in Collaborative piano from the University of Western Ontario.

I previously obtained a B. Mus in Piano Performance from UVic, and I have an ARCT in Piano. In organ, I have an RCM Grade 10 BC Silver Medal for Pipe Organ and the RCCO Service Playing certificate. I obtained the level of CRCCO in the spring of 2014. Although I have several degrees in piano already, my true passion is the organ and my goal is to bring as much of its wonderful music to the public as possible. And possibly take over the world while I’m at it.

I currently work at the Victoria Conservatory of Music as a collaborative pianist in the Collegium program. I work with young string players for masterclasses and performances.

I have worked with many musicians, including three French hornists, two tuba players, two euphonium players, a saxophone player, a clarinet player, three singers, a Baroque flute/oboe trio, a classical piano trio, two horn/violin trios, and a horn/clarinet trio. I was also a member of the Six Pianos ensemble in London, ON, and worked at Holy Angels and St. Anne’s Catholic Churches in St. Thomas as an organist. I also taught piano and violin at Music For Life Yamaha Music School and School of Music Arts in London.

Additionally, I have 20 years of choir experience – both singing and accompanying. One of my great skills is to learn music very quickly, which is a great asset for both me and the people I play for. I enjoy both overplayed famous works and obscure, forgotten gems, as well as arrangements, irreverent or otherwise.

I also enjoy such creative hobbies as reading, writing, drawing, digital painting, and occasionally sculpting and cosplay. I play RPGs and action/adventure computer games frequently, and I am a dedicated fantasy nerd.
